What is WASHH?
WASHH stands for Water, Sanitation, Health and Hygiene. One of our main objectives under this program is to provide school children with safe drinking water, clean water for hygiene and access to adequate sanitation facilities.
Several parts of Cambodia do not have piped water infrastructure. Without access to potable water for drinking, sanitation and hygiene, communities including school children faces significant hardship. Families must rely on natural water sources such as ponds, wells, rivers and rainwater. However, these sources are often unsafe due to contamination and become increasingly scarce during the dry season.
Most villagers depend on unprotected wells, hand-dug ponds, or open rainwater jars for their daily needs. Unfortunately, consuming untreated water frequently leads to illness among children, affecting their health, school attendance, and overall development.
We therefore strive not only to make water accessible, but to ensure it is safe for consumption. By providing reliable clean water solutions and promoting proper hygiene practices, we aim to significantly reduce waterborne diseases and create a healthier environment where children can learn and thrive.
